Tour around Gerswalde

In the middle of the town stands the most important monument – the moated castle, an impressive medieval castle complex. Thanks to the Wasserburg Gerswalde e.V. development association, it is an interesting attraction for visitors with the Gerswalde Heimatstube, the fishing museum and various exhibitions.

From Gerswalde, the cycle tour leads us along the road with beautiful views to the left and right of the route, past the Desert Church with the Uckermark Myth Garden, to Berkenlatten. On a tour of the ostrich farm, you can get to know the largest bird on earth. In the farm shop, in addition to fresh ostrich meat and sausages, you will also find feathers, feather dusters, artfully engraved ostrich eggs, jewelry and leather goods, as well as other regional products. The farm snack bar is also open from April to September.

The country road continues to Groß Fredenwalde. The village is known for its Stone Age find. Germany’s oldest cemetery was discovered here. A narrow road leads us to Stegelitz. From here, we follow the Berlin-Usedom Cycle Route along a forest path to the Schifferhof bathing spot – the Große Lanke of the Oberuckersee. It’s worth taking a break or cooling off in the lake here. We follow the cycle path alongside the road via Suckow and Flieth back to the starting point.
